Located on the Nam Ngum Reservoir, the 300 MW Floating Solar Project in Laos is the largest floating solar project in the world. The proposed project is expected to produce up to 420,000,000 kWh/year and will power the existing China-Laos Industrial Park in Vientiane. It will also benefit from the relocation of China's manufacturing to Laos.
The Laos Floating Solar Project will also reduce up to 297,675 tonnes of carbon emissions, create 300 jobs during the construction phase and benefit 500,700 people from the power generated.
Laos Existing grids is interconnected with neighboring countries and upon connection, the project will serve three markets: Laos, Thailand and Vietnam
Laos is overdeveloped with Hydro power projects but experiences a power shortage during drought seasons. The floating solar project will operate all year round.
